This gage was used on the No 4 series rifles to insure that the butt stock attaching screw was properly fit, neither to far out or not out far enough. The tool on sale is still sealed in original wrap and unopened since packed during WWII. The markings may vary, some have the style shown others have a more "printed" look. The WWII contractors name is also usually present.
